Infectious substances

 emnvases-embalajes-sustancias-infecciosas

Infectious substances means substances for which are known or reasonably expected to contain pathogens agents.
Pathogens are microorganisms (such as bacteria, viruses, rickettsiae, parasites and fungi) and other agents such as prions, which can cause disease in animals or humans.

If we consider that our sample corresponds to an infectious substance, we must use UN certified packaging, corresponding to the packaging instructions P602 of IATA (air) or 620 (road) of ADR. Basically, this statement indicates the following:

  • We must use UN approved and labeled packaging
  • We must indicate the corresponding warning labels (see models)
  • To attach the corresponding documentation (waybill, written instructions, etc.).
A UN approved packaging complies with strict requirements, making it especially suitable for holding one or a certain class of dangerous goods, and has been certified by the corresponding drop tests (9 meters), peroration, spraying, pressure, etc. in an accredited laboratory to perform these tests.

These packages may consist of several components, which are a transport only. Such boxes can be insulated, ready to transport goods at controlled temperature-controlled (chilled or frozen). Failure to use this type of packaging when required, may involve high-level administrative penalties as mentioned in the Law 29/2003.
