Secondary packaging normally is a wrappers of different materials (rigid or flexible) which group packaging products to form a unit of load, of storage or of higher transport. The regulations for the shipment of infectious low-risk (Category B or Risk Group 2) indicates that they have to follow the packing instructions 650 ADR or IATA, is contemplating the use of 3 packages:
- Primary: the vial, blood tube, Petri plate, etc. Packed separately to prevent contact between them.
- Secondary: jar, bottle or bag that usually must be leak proof and withstand pressures greater than 95kPa (kilopascals) range from -40 º c and 55 º c.
- External: it can be of different materials with a measure of more 100x100mm at its sides and should withstand a drop test from 1.2 meters without affecting its content as well as bring relevant labels to load.
